Shrimp Wonton

Fresh, crispy shrimp wontons dipped in hot chilli sauce or just on it's own are perfect for feeding a crowd. Learn how to make wonton wrappers from scratch, these wontons are a cinch to prepare, cook & present!



Shrimp / চিংড়ি 100 gm

Coriander leaves / ধনে পাতা 3 tbsp

Green chilli / কাঁচা মরিচ 3 pcs

Soy sauce / সয়া সস 1 tbsp

Chilli paste / চিলি পেস্ট 1 tsp

Salt to taste / স্বাদ অনুযায়ী লবণ


Plain flour / ময়দা 1 cup

Cornflour / ভুট্টার আটা 1/4 cup

Egg / ডিম 1

Salt to taste / স্বাদ অনুযায়ী লবণ

Water (lukewarm) / একটু গরম পানি 1/2 cup



  • Wash, peel and devein the shrimps. For the wonton filling, cut the shrimps until finely chopped and move them onto a bowl.

  • Add finely chop coriander leaves, green chilli, soy sauce, chilli paste and salt to taste.

  • Mix well using a fork. Set aside


  • In a bowl, add plain flour, cornflour. Mix the dry ingredients together.

  • Make a small well in the center. Break an egg onto a bowl and whisk it, add it to the flour mixture.

  • In a small bowl, add 3 tbsp of water to dissolve 1/4 tsp of salt. Add it to the flour mixture and mix well.

  • Add lukewarm water 1 tsp at a time, (1/2 cup in total), and knead until you form an elastic dough.

  • Cover with a damp towel and rest for 10 minutes.

  • Dust the surface with flour, knead the dough and cut into 2 balls.

  • Take one portion and roll the dough to flat and very thin sheets (the thinner, the better!)

  • Cut the sheets into square shapes (approximately 3.5 inch ) and set aside.

  • Take one sheet and add shrimp filling to the center. Brush eggwash on the outskirt of half of the wrapper sheet. Close the edges and twist the wrapper to the desired shape of wonton, follow recipe video. Be sure to seal the wrapper well, the tighter you can wrap it, the better!

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Deep fry 4 wontons at a time, fry each side until golden brown.

  • Remove and drain excess oil on paper towel.

Serve fried shrimp wontons with your preferred sauce and a bowl of thai soup!
