Salt 1/4 tsp

Water (lukewarm) 1 cup

Cooking Directions

  • In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour with salt and water.

  • Gently mix everything together, knead for 5 minutes into a soft and sticky dough.

  • Cover with damp towel and set aside for 10 minutes.

  • Place dough on lightly floured work station. Knead for 1-2 minutes to smooth round dough.

  • Divide into equal 12 parts, knead to form round balls and cover with damp cloth.

  • Flatten the balls with the palm of our hand, then using a rolling pin, roll the ball into a circle with 1/8 inches of thickness and 3 inches in diameter. Sprinkle flour if the roti is too sticky to roll. Making the perfect 'round' roti takes some practice, so keep practicing :)

  • Heat a heavy bottom tava, griddle or skillet on medium high temperature. Do not use any oil, cook the roti for 1 minute before turning over, then turn again after another minute.

Best served warm alongside any meat / vegetable curry, daal or even aloo curries.
