How To Make Gurer Pitha

My grandma used to make this for our family on special occasions. We love to carry on the delicious tradition


270 gm jaggery

1 ¾ cup water

¼ cup sugar

1 ½ cup rice flour

1 cup wheat flour

½ cup coconut

¾ tsp salt

2 tbsp ap flour


1. Finely cut jaggery and transfer to a bowl

2. Pour water in a pot followed by the jaggery

3. Continuously stir until jaggery and sugar are dissolved

4. Remove the jaggery syrup from heat and set it aside

5. Mix rice flour with wheat flour, desiccated coconut, salt, and ap flour.

6. Gradually mix the jaggery syrup into the dry flour mix

7. Cover with lid and let it rest for 10 minutes

8. Scoop the batter and deep fry in cooking oil

9. Fry over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes

10. Best served at room temperature

11. Ready to enjoy!
