All you need is bhaat, daal and aloo bhorta and you've got yourself a wholesome meal! Quick, simple and delicious.
Potato / আলু 3 pcs
Onion thinly sliced / পেঁয়াজ চিকন কাটা 1/2 cup
Dry red chilli / শুকনো লাল মরিচ 3-4 pcs
Mustard oil / সরিষা তেল 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves finely chopped / ধনে পাতা চপ 1/4 cup
Salt to taste / স্বাদ অনুযায়ী লবণ
Boil the potatoes in water, over medium heat, for 20 minutes until they are soft.
Once they have slightly cooled, peel the skin and mash the potatoes using a masher.
Roast dry red chilli on a heated pan, cook for 2-3 minutes, until they are slightly burnt on all sides. Stir continuously as they can get burnt really fast.
To make bhorta: Mash by hand the roasted dry red chilli with salt as per taste, followed by chopped onions. Add mustard oil and mix all ingredients well. Add mashed potato and coriander leaves, continue to mash until everything is thoroughly mixed.
Adjust the ingredients to your liking.
Mix everything well and serve by bringing them together to shape like a ball.
Serve hot with steaming plain white rice.
