Turkish Meat Pie

A delicious meat pie that looks as good as it tastes! A mixture of ground beef, onions, potato, herbs and spices that marry perfectly and taste heavenly wrapped inside a rich pastry pie.

Ingredients
Dough:
All purpose flour / ময়দা 1 cup
Sugar / চিনি 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste / স্বাদ অনুযায়ী লবণ
Yeast 1/2 tsp
Oil / তেল 1 tbsp
Warm milk / গরম দুধ 1/4 cup
Filling:
Oil / রান্নার তেল 2 tbsp
Onion chopped / পেঁয়াজ চপ 1 cup
Garlic chopped / রসুন চপ 1 tbsp
All spice powder 1 tbsp
Green chilli chopped / কাঁচা মরিচ চপ 2 pcs
Black pepper powder / গোল মরিচ গুঁড়া1 tsp
Salt to taste / স্বাদ অনুযায়ী লবণ
Ground red meat / লাল মাংস কেমা 1/2 lbs
Garlic paste / রসুন বাটা 1 tbsp
Grated boiled potato / কুচানো সিদ্ধ আলু 1/2 cup
Directions
Dough:
In a mixing bowl, add all purpose flour, sugar, salt, yeast. Stir and mix all the dry ingredients together.
Add 1 tbsp of oil and warm milk in little amounts stirring and mixing everything together. Knead well to form a smooth dough.
Cover and rest aside for 15 mins
Filling:
Heat a skillet with 2 tbsp of oil over medium heat.
Add chopped onions and garlic, stir and saute until onions are translucent. Add all spice powder, chopped green chilli, black pepper powder and salt to taste. Saute all spices together for couple minutes. Remove onto a bowl and set aside.
On the same pan, add ground meat and saute until the meat is colored and all the fat is released.
Add garlic paste, grated boiled potato and the spice mix. Stir and cook everything together for 5 minutes.
Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool down.
Uncover pie dough and knead for couple minutes.
Divide dough to 4 equal smaller portions.
Dust flour on the rolling surface and roll out the dough into very thin round circle. Set aside and sprinkle flour on top of it. Repeat the same process for the remaining dough balls and layer them on top of each other.
Once all 4 portions are rolled out, roll them out gently and slowly to maker larger and thinner sheets. Make sure to dust flour between each sheet so they don't stick to each other.
Take out one sheet and brush butter on the top surface. Flip it over and add the minced meat filling in the center of the sheet, then add a layer of shredded cheese.
Close in the sides of the round sheet in your hand, twist the bottom and tuck in the top half underneath. (As shown in recipe video)
Repeat the same for remaining sheets.
Pre-heat oven to 350°F for 5 mins.
Place parchment paper on baking pan, grease with oil.
Transfer the pies onto the baking pan and brush them with eggwash.
Bake in the oven for 25 mins at 350°F.
Remove from oven and let it cool down.
Enjoy this pie accompanied with a salad for a lighter meal.
