Sweet and Sour Steamed Egg

This delicious sweet and sour steamed egg is a perfect dish for meat alternative containing protein.


5 eggs

¼ tsp salt

½ tsp red chili

3 tbsp ap flour

2 tbsp corn starch

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp red chili

½ cup water

1 tbsp cooking oil

1 tsp garlic

1 tsp ginger

¾ cup onion

1 green bell pepper

3 green chilies

4 tbsp ketchup

1 tsp sugar

1 tbsp white vinegar

½ cup water

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cornstarch

½ cup water

¼ tsp pepper


1. Whisk egg with salt and red chili

2. Pour the whisked egg into a baking glassware

3. Seal the glassware with foil paper and steam for 18 minutes

4. Remove egg from the steamer and cut into cubes and set aside

5. Mix ap flour with cornstarch, salt, and red chili

6. Gradually pour in a half cup of water

7. Mix well and coat the egg in the batter

8. Fry the coated egg in cooking oil until fluffy and golden in colour

9. Drizzle cooking oil in a pan and stir in chopped garlic along with chopped ginger, onion petals, green bell pepper petals, and green chilies

10. Add ketchup, sugar, white vinegar, water, and salt to taste

11. Mix the fried egg into the sweet and sour vegetables in pan

12. Prepare cornstarch slurry by diluting cornstarch with water

13. Pour in the cornstarch slurry while gradually stirring

14. Finish off with a sprinkle of pepper before serving

15. Ready to enjoy!
