Sweet Gurer Payesh is a signature Bengali dessert prepared with Rice, Milk, and Jaggery.
Ingredients:
1 ½ tbsp clarified butter
½ cup-soaked basmati
6 cups of milk
Pinch of salt
½ cup condensed milk
200 grams of jaggery
1 tbsp mawa
2 tbsp sliced almond
2 tbsp sliced pistachio
Instructions:
1. Fry the Kalijeera or basmati rice in a pan with ghee for 2-3 minutes
2. Add milk and Cook for 25-30 minutes on low-medium heat while continuously stirring
3. Add a pinch of salt
4. Once the rice is cooked, use an immersion blender to break the rice into smaller pieces
5. Add condensed milk
6. Turn off the heat
7. Add solid jaggery and stir until it has melted
8. Garnish with mawa, almonds, and pistachios
9. Best served chilled
