This classic Bangladeshi side dish is a must try. This dish is an easy side that you can make in 20 minutes or less. It’s typically served with steamed white rice—or a flatbread like roti, porota.
Ingredients:
400 gm data
320 gm sweet potato
2 ½ tbsp cooking oil
3 sliced garlic cloves
½ cup thinly sliced onions
½ tsp salt
1 tsp coriander
½ tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chili
4-5 shrimp
5 green chilies
3 tbsp coconut
½ tsp salt
1 cup hot water
½ tsp roasted cumin
Instructions:
1. Add cooking oil to a pan along with garlic, and thinly sliced onions
2. Saute until soft for 3 to 4 minutes
3. Stir in sweet potatoes, salt, coriander, turmeric, and red chili
4. Add a splash of water and sauté for 2 minutes
5. Cover with lid and cook for 4 minutes on low heat
6. Add chopped shrimp pieces
7. Stir in data, desiccated coconut, and salt to taste
8. Pour a cup of hot water
9. Cover with lid and cook for 10 minutes on low heat until the potatoes are soft
10. Break the potatoes as you stir
11. Finish off with a sprinkle of roasted cumin
12. Ready to enjoy!
